Dendreon overstating prostate cancer vaccine efficacy, says FDA

According to a letter sent by the FDA to Dendreon Corp., the manufacturer of the prostate cancer immunotherapy Provenge (sipuleucel-T), the company has broadly exaggerated Provenge's efficacy while downplaying its risks in their marketing materials.

Specifically, the FDA has cited "false or misleading" statements found in a promotional kit for Provenge. The agency has ordered Dendreon to withdraw these marketing materials.
