fda-logo.jpg

The FDA has approved the first prescription oral soluble film "for the prevention of postoperative, highly and moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy-induced, and radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting."

DRUG(S)
Zuplenz (ondansetron), made by Strativa Pharmaceuticals.

CANCER TYPE(S)
All

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Zuplenz is an oral soluble film, meaning that it's a thin strip that dissolves when the patient puts it on their tongue. The benefits of this delivery system are that the patient doesn't need to drink water, they don't have to swallow anything, and they need not be concerned about whether or not they're taking it on an empty stomach.
